The Cigarettes played a tight repertoire amongst a coastal backdrop drawing influences from mid 70‘s New York bands, theatrical overtones, the candor of Lou Reed and the sharpness of Elvis Costello.
The band fused “unfiltered rock and roll”, Punk, New Wave, reggae and jazz styles. Original songs and reinterpretations of Bowie, Roxy Music, Lou Reed and the Beatles were also featured.
We performed shows at Deakin University and Geelong hotels. Throughout the summer of ‘76-’77 the band loved the idea of creating its own coastal tour. We organised, financed and promoted this series of dates throughout Victorian West Coastal surfing towns playing at hotels, events and community halls
Discography and Recordings
Recorded live performances at The Argyle Hotel and Ocean Grove RSL Hall.
(Audio cassette / archived to DAT & Digital formats)
